If you know me, you know that Bora Bora has been #1 on my bucket list since FOREVER! I swear I’m still pinching myself that I got to travel there. We went for our second wedding anniversary and it’s for sure an anniversary that we will never forget. I wish I could tell you that it looks just like all the photos on the internet but trust me, the photos don’t even come close to doing it justice!!!! I mean the place is absolutely unreal. I know for a fact that we will never, ever travel to a more beautiful place or be able to top this vacation. We will be back, I promise.

How to get there:
Let me just start with this because wow, it’s a long trip. Especially long for someone like me with extreme flight anxiety! If me flying across the world and wanting to do it again doesn’t tell you how amazing this place is, idk what will! I honestly dreaded the travel, I’m not gonna lie. We took a flight from CLT (Charlotte) to LAX (Los Angeles), then took a red eye on Air Tahiti Nui to Papeete, Tahiti. We started our trip in Moorea, which helped give me time to prepare for the propeller plane to Bora Bora but I’ll so a separate blog on Moorea. So, we took a ferry to Moorea, and then a tiny propeller Air Tahiti plane from Moorea to Bora Bora, which took about 50 minutes. I sobbed the entire way because I’m a giant baby but the second we started descending to Bora Bora, all of my anxiety was gone. WE MADE IT! Sit on the left side of the plane for an insane view of the island and have your camera ready.
Once you arrive at the airport, you get off the plane and it smells like vanilla. I can’t even explain it. You go inside and find your resort stand and they lei you, take your luggage and send you on a boat to your resort. This is your first glimpse at the crystal clear water and its un-freaking-believable. Logan and I just kept looking at each other like there is no way this is real?!

Where we stayed:
We stayed at the Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort. Uninterrupted views of Otemanu and an authentic Polynesian feel, which we really wanted to experience! We stayed in an over the water bungalow #37! Fun fact- on both anniversary trips we have been on, our rooms have include the numbers 7 and 3. Our wedding date is 7.3.2017. This was the Lagoon Premium Overwater Bungalow. We absolutely LOVED our resort. The water is crystal clear and so so so BLUE, amazing views of the mountain, the food was great and the staff was extremely friendly! Breakfast was included everyday aside from our Polynesian Canoe Breakfast- we had to pay for that. There is a HUGE language barrier- they speak French and Polynesian. We even learned some Polynesian words while there! We couldn’t stop running around saying them haha. IA ORANA! If you follow me on instagram you’ll know.

What to do:
Bungalow Life:
Honestly, I didn’t want to leave our bungalow at all. I wanted to just lay there on the deck and soak it allllllll up. I mean, it was a dream come true after all. Make sure you take some time to do this!

Jet Ski Tour:
A MUST! This is incredible and probably my favorite thing we did the entire trip. You will tour the entire island by jet ski. The water you see is breathtaking, and you’ll stop to break open some coconuts on a private island! We drove straight though a tropical rain storm which was SO FUN! It only lasted 5 min but boy was it fun.

Polynesian Canoe Breakfast:
Okay, this was my favorite thing we did (can I say that about everything?). Worth every single penny, I promise! A Polynesian Canoe will deliver your breakfast straight to your bungalow! If that’s not cool enough, they take you for a ride on the canoe to see the stingrays and mountain. When you return, your breakfast is completely set up on your balcony!! I died. It was incredible.

Swim with Sharks and Rays:
Okay, I know I’ve already done both in Exuma but that was shallow water and in Bora Bora it’s in the deep, wide open ocean so we actually ended up chickening out on this hours before the tour. I kinda regret it, but we just spent the day swimming off our bungalow instead so I really can’t complain.

TIPS:
- DO NOT CHECK THE WEATHER!!!!! You’ll end up crying the days leading up to your trip like I did lol and we ended up having the most amazing weather! It’s too hard to predict the weather out in the South Pacific so don’t even bother checking.
- PACK SNACKS and pack lots of them! You’ll not only need them on the plane ride because plane food is SICK, but the food is beyond expensive in Bora Bora, along with everything else. You’ll thank me later when you don’t have to give an arm and a leg for a snack.
- Pay attention to when you book your trip. Their seasons are backwards, so we went in July, which is our summer, but it was winter in Bora Bora! The weather is still a perfect 80 everyday but it does get dark at around 6pm, so if that bothers you then book a different time.
- If you want one of the traditional flower crowns, like I did, you have to go to the conceirege and order one! They are about $20USD and definitely worth it! I got three while I was there because you only go to Bora Bora once, am I right?
- TAKE A MILLION PHOTOS

When it came time to leave, I actually teared up. It was truly a dream. I hope this answers any and all of your Bora Bora questions. Please feel free to reach out to me on IG if you have any other questions, I would be happy to answer. Check out our travel vlog below!
